As with any performance horse, correct nutrition of both mare and stallion has a major role to play in breeding success. Ensuring the horse is in good condition, neither over nor under weight, and maintaining a fully balanced diet at all times will help maintain overall well-being and support optimum fertility. Fertility Plus is a scientifically formulated supplement which has been developed to deliver a range of key nutrients, all of which are known to play a role in supporting fertility in both stallion and mare. Omega 3 fatty acids are components of all cell membranes, including those of sperm cells, so their inclusion at high levels help maximise sperm quality which can prove particularly beneficial in helping semen to withstand the rigorous freezing and thawing processes associated with artificial insemination. These fatty acids are also believed to have an important role in the development of the foetus and are thought to help soothe the mare’s reproductive tract following covering or AI. The supplement contains key antioxidants, including vitamins C and E and selenium, which support the metabolism of the fatty acids, plus selenium, zinc and beta carotene which all have other beneficial effects on fertility.
