Jane and Ali go to Somerford Park

When Baileys’ branded Jane Bettles met the Baileys’ branded jumps, at Somerford Park…….

It’s been sometime since my last blog but 2019 is well and truly underway. Winter seemed to drag but the clocks have changed, spring seems to have finally arrived, the sun is peeking through more and more and, more importantly, the BE 2019 season has begun.

A preseason visit from Hen (from Baileys) to give Ali a once over was much appreciated, a few tweaks to his feeding regime and boom we were all set for our first event. We kicked the season off with the BE100 at Tweseldown, posting a dressage score of 31.8, an unlucky 2 down SJ and a clear but slow and steady XC to get our first competition of 2019 under our belt. Our next event was Goring Heath, a new venue for us. We finished the day all smiles with a 29 dressage, double clear and a 5th placing, what a lovely event, friendly and welcoming, all being well we will hopefully be back later in the year.

Last weekend was #trainingtime. I made the long 4.5 hour drive from Essex to Somerford Park but boy was it worth it. The facilities for training are amazing and Ali and I got some fab coaching from Kath Pinington and Stephen Thompson. We came away with homework from Kath, needing to improve on Ali’s core strength so I have started work riding in the Equicore concept aid #watchthisspace #workinprogress.

The cross-country training field is something else with loads of combinations. I spotted the new Baileys banners out on the course and managed to get a cheeky picture jumping one. I must admit some of the fences out there looked like barriers rather than fences, rather high and wide but you never know, keep practising and train hard, then, maybe one day............

Next weekend we head to Horseheath for the BE100. Under an hour away, it’s our most local event. The going is always amazing and the reception always friendly. We are very much looking forward to it. Hoping all our practice pays off and we have a good run, I have my eye on the Badminton regional finals ?? Until next time........
