Summer comes to the UK at last and the M25 was a little kinder as I trekked up to the Festival of Hunting on the East of England Showground. Jovian did his first HOYS side saddle class and got his ticket, which was great as there are now just two cobs going through.
Great Bear, the new baby light weight cob, went for a ride around and, except for one temper tantrum, was good. I also had a look round the hound shows and vintage hunting stands and came back with a beautiful side saddle whip that proved lucky! However, the drive home was not! There was a five car pileup and two police
vehicles chasing a stolen car which resulted in an eight lane halt! We managed to turn off and go a different way but it took forever!
Only a week later we had another trek up the M25 to Keysoe for the Mid Herts County Show, where Great Bear made his debut! I am so pleased with him, as the only four year old in a class of 15 in a small ring, he was pulled in fourth and finished third in a class of cobs that I have seen since the beginning of the season. He shows a lot of potential for 2017, especially as he has only been here since the end of May! Pinkie (Jovian) was second in the Open Maxi class, which again is a good result as he too is a baby, and Cappa Sham was third in a massive
coloured class.
Now for the busiest week ever: the Longines International Horse Show at Hickstead and the New Forest show! And added to the riding team on Saturday will be Baileys Marketing Manager, Jane Buchan - a bit of a change from eventing for her!
